One of the founding principles of your electric co-op is neighbors helping neighbors. It was in that spirit that this program was launched in 2020. Our directors and employees live in the communities we serve. That's just one of the reasons why we work hard to achieve a better quality of life for our member-owners.

Help Shape the Future of Community Cents

Jump River Electric Cooperative is evaluating the future of the Community Cents program — a voluntary bill round-up program where participating members contribute an average of about $6 per year to support local community projects and non-profit organizations.

We would appreciate your feedback.

A LITTLE CHANGE GOES A LONG WAY!

Join fellow members who have decided to take part in this program. The Community Cents program is designed to help those who need a hand up and not a handout. This program relies solely on the contributions from our member-owners that have opted to have their bill rounded up. The average member will see about six dollars ($6.00) a year go towards this program. The Community Cents Program is operated and funded independently from Jump River Electric Cooperative. 

From time to time, applications for grants are accepted and reviewed by a group of members who make up the Community Cents Advisory Committee. Please keep watch here and on our Facebook page for when applications are being accepted.

You can sign-up for the Community Cents program by completing the online form on this page or by filling out the opt-in form on the back of your energy bill. Your change can make a change for someone who needs your help. Thank you for considering this worthy program.  

2026 Recipients (each receiving $500):

Landmark Conservancy, Rusk County Farmers Market, The Salvation Army of Rusk County, and Wisconsin Women's Business Initiative Corporation.

2025 Recipients (each receiving $250):

Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association, Greater Hayward House of Hope, Hayward Music Booster, Inc., Northwest Wisconsin Workforce Investment Board, Power House Youth Center, The Lighthouse.org, Friends of Rusk County Animal Shelter, Hawkins Lions Club, Landmark Conservancy, Northwoods Humane Society, Seeley Trails Foundation, and The Salvation Army of Rusk County.

Applications are not being accepted.  Please check back from time to time to see when the next grants are to be awarded.

APPLICATION 

Community Cents Grant Guidelines:

Every penny donated to the Community Cents program will be pooled together to support local nonprofit organizations and communities. Grants are awarded based on how much money is available and whether or not the purpose of the request is consistent with Community Cents guidelines. Previous amounts awarded have been between $250 to $1,000. The qualification guidelines are as follows:

Grants are generally awarded to nonprofit organizations and specific projects and initiatives that enhance the quality of life in our local communities and address unmet needs in areas such as youth, education, public safety, health, self-sufficiency, basic human needs, cultural enhancement, as well as community and emergency services.

Funding Restrictions:  Funds are generally not awarded to individuals, organizations with political or national affiliations, lobbying efforts, fundraising events, paying for ongoing operational costs, raffles, religious functions, scholarship programs, fraternal organizations, advertising, or paying members’ bills.

Only one grant per year will be awarded to an organization.

Community Cents Opt-In Form

Yes!  I want to sign up for Community Cents program, and I know that this money will be donated to a worthy cause.  I understand that by selecting my participation method and by signing this form, my bill will be adjusted accordingly and that unless I call to have that changed, this will happen until I no longer receive power from Jump River Electric Cooperative.
